DIY home décor is fun! There are a lot of easy ways to put your own stamp on your things and have one of a kind pieces. Do things the way you want them, and feel proud of your home décor. If you are handy at all, these following pieces will be easy peasy!

So, the following projects are things from my own home that we have made. I usually get the vision, and my husband brings it to life! We are a great team. FYI since we usually wing it – and there’s no right or wrong way to do it – there aren’t any instructions for these diy home décor projects.
Wooden Picture Collage
So, a while ago I bought a TON of these pieces of wood from Home Depot and knew that I would find projects to make with them. This was one! The pieces of wood are about 2ft by 6 inches. We staggered them and stained them. My favorite stain of all time is Mission Oak! It’s a stain and polyurethane in one, and just the best color. We use it on everything. Seriously we are even thinking of redoing our floors with it!
Anyway, my husband connected the pieces of wood and added little hooks to the sides. Then I just took some twine and printed out a bunch of my fave family pics. I thought they would look cool in black and white, and I love it! I attached the pics to the twine with some tiny clothes pins and that was it – so easy. And such a cute piece. I get lots of compliments on it!
Vanity with Mirror
This is a piece that was originally a vanity with an attached mirror, in a medium wood color. It looked terribly outdated and just not my style so I decided to fix it up instead of get rid of it. Here is a before pic:
We decided to take the shelving & mirror off, change the hardware (such a simple fix to so many things!) and paint it white to go with our room. Then I stained a piece of wood – yes with mission oak! And then my husband just attached it. I found a mirror I thought was cool – and VOILA! My own, one of a kind vanity. Very simple, but works for what I need it for. Great piece for small spaces!! It could easily also be an entryway table or side table. Very versatile now – I’m so glad I didn’t throw it out or give it away!
Barrel Sink
This was actually my husband’s idea! He was creating a bathroom in the basement and wanted to have some cool pieces. So, of course, he made his own sink! We searched high and low for this thing, let me tell you. This barrel in particular we had to travel to Pennsylvania to get. We checked out flea markets, yard sales, and craigslist until we found one to his liking. He made some cuts in it to make the sink functional, and now he has a cool one of a kind piece! The bathroom actually came out super cute, and he did it all himself – with the help of a few youtube videos. He’s very handy!
I love how the bathroom came out – we mixed a lot of different elements, but it all really came together! Matte blue paint, stone wall, porcelain tile, and bamboo on the ceiling! So fun. Oh, and that Harley pic is actually a puzzle that we worked on together as a family. DIY home décor is so special.
Tile work can be hard – and time consuming, but it IS definitely something that can be a DIY home project. Just make sure you do a little research before hand!
Puzzle Pictures
So, we are a puzzle loving family! When we were redoing our son’s room, we had a hard time finding décor that he really loved. Instead, he made his own. He made his puzzles, then I just put them into picture frames. Now he’s proud of his art because he made it and no one else has it but him. We have done this a few times in different rooms, and I love it. Just find a puzzle that you love or goes with your color scheme, and do it as a family! It’s a lot of fun and is a great bonding experience. Then grab a picture frame or poster frame (depending on the size!) to go with it. I like to mod podge the puzzle together and then glue it to poster board. Cut off any excess poster board and insert into the frame. It can even make a thoughtful gift!
Pallet Couch
Now, our pallet couch is looking a little rough these days – we’ve had it for years and it has done it’s job! The deck is also looking pretty rough, but as we await approval for our addition, we aren’t fixing anything. This deck is actually going to get ripped off and redone (YAY).
Anyways, onto the pallet couch. My husband has easy access to pallets through work, so a few years ago when pallets were “the thing to use”, we of course had to make something with them too. Cuz why not? We basically just painted them and threw them down. Then we found a pretty fabric and ordered 2 twin sized mattresses. After covering with the mattresses we did Scotchgarde the fabric since it would be outside (our deck is covered though). Next I whipped up some matching pillows – and there you go! Most comfortable outdoor seating in town. We have gotten soooo much use out of this thing.

That table in the pic is another DIY home project. Remember how I said I bought a ton of those pieces of wood that I used in the picture collage? Well, we also made a table with them! My husband somehow made a base (he surprises me sometimes) and we stained it – yes of course with mission oak. (I know, I sound like a crazy person with this stain!) Originally it was a lego table for our son. It has moved around a few times. It was our coffee table in the living room at one point too. Now it’s outside since it’s a great height for the pallet couch.
There you have it – a few of my very own DIY home décor pieces. We love making our own stuff and playing around with ideas. I can’t wait to make new pieces for the house after our renovation! I’m in need of some fun, new, creative pieces!

That wooden picture collage is so beautiful. I think that will be easy to do and fun. I will try this weekend with my children.

I do like the barrel sink, it’s so stylish and gives the bathroom such a rustic feel. I bet all your guests are loving it as well.
