When thinking about selling, we need to think about what kind of home updates buyers are looking for. Of course they want the space and functionality of a great house. Good bones, a great price. But when looking at homes, the aesthetic of homes really is what draws buyers in. Having a beautiful home that they can move right into and start enjoying right away is key to getting your house sold. Here are 5 easy home updates you can do in a weekend!

1. Fresh Coat of Paint
I say this all the time. A fresh coat of paint can work wonders! Touch up the windows and trim with a bright white. Pick a color to make the bathroom pop. Paint the front door. Pick a neutral and cohesive theme that gives off a homey vibe all through out the house. It will come across as fresh and clean, and one less thing that buyers would have to do before they move in – and they love that.
2. Quick Kitchen Upgrade
Pick one main job to take care of in your kitchen, and do it. It will give a total facelift to the whole kitchen. New countertops can bring a boring backsplash and old cabinets back to life. Try something light and easy to clean. Or paint old wood cabinets white to brighten up the space. Have a decent budget to upgrade with? Order new matching appliances. Buyers will love that they won’t need to be running out to buy new appliances, and your Realtor will talk it up as a great feature – because it is!
3. Curtains
By far one of the easiest upgrades and most forgotten – curtains! They can truly transform a room. Choose a pattern or color that compliments your furniture and decor. Or add long white curtains for a dramatic effect. If needed, buy some new pillows, curtains, and an area rug that all go together and give the room some life! Many times I see homes with boring curtains, the wrong length curtains, or *gasp* no curtains! They can be a great way to add some dimension and style to any room. Not good with this stuff? Look into Staging, and have someone do it for you.
4. Bathroom Accessories
So maybe you had your kitchen redone, but never got around to the bathroom? Fear not -pick out a fun color scheme and go with it. Think luxurious and minimal. Maybe white and gold would be fun! Grab a new shower curtain, soap dispenser, a candle, and a few white towels. Keep in your color scheme and your bathroom will be looking good in no time. The spa theme is always a great way to go. A super CLEAN bathroom is also a must!
5. New Lighting
Let there be light! Some homes show badly because they are just so dark. If you rooms are dim or your lighting fixtures are outdated, thinking about purchasing some new ones to help with the sale of your house. Check out wayfair or amazon for affordable lighting & quick shipping. Or head to home depot or lowes! There are some really nice styles that don’t cost a fortune. Tip: If it’s Spring/Summer, add a nice ceiling fan to the main room. Have a little girls room? Add a little chandelier. Lanterns are really in right now, too. Put a few new lights up over your island or heading up the stairs. Go ahead and grab a few statement pieces that will brighten your space. Buyers will love it!
These are just a few easy, quick home updates to do on any house. Buyers are very visual and want to see nice things and pretty rooms. When they feel like there are less things that they need to do, it makes a house much more appealing. These tips will help pull rooms together and get you sold!
